This was a great story! The little horse that could! Not like that over rated Big Brown, whos trainer was nothing but a drug addict. Smarty Jones was the best horse in the last 20 years. Forget about Big Brown this horse could!

    even better than barbaro

In my opinon yes. Smarty Jones was undefeated till the Belmont and in the Belmont Smarty Jones cracked a bone and still finished 2nd. Don’t get me wrong I loved Barbaro. Barbaron lost races before the derby and more people remember him becasue of the HBO special. Smarty was a store unknown horse unknown jockey. Undersized underbred. I just loved the little horse that could! Barbaro was such a sad tragedy.

Barbaro lost one race fack stick, the one where his leg snapped in half! underbred? his sire is world record holder and his dam a two time stakes winner.

@howardm74 AND HE CAME FROM PHILADELPHIA PARK!

  10. FireGirlG Says:

@howardm74 Barbaro was undefeated up until he broke down.

Quite frankly I think comparing these two horses is absolutely retarded. They are two different, brilliant horses. It’s an argument not worth having b/c we will never know who would have beaten who. Both were brilliant racehorses, and will both be remembered as such.

In my humble opinion, Smarty Jones could have won the triple crown if he would have save some of that finish. I think he might have been too tired from the 2 previous races that he dominated.
