AWESOME AWESOME!! I can’t help but get so emotional when these horses perform extraordinary! Just like this past Derby, WOW!! This jockey is definitely one to be watched.
Street Sense retired before the Dubai Cup and look at the track that year when they ran the classic (there was no dirt just mud and street sense didnt run great cause of it)… not to take any thing from curlin he was an awesome horse… but i think street sense was a better horse
I have to say Calvin Borel made an excellent move coming around that far turn. When I first saw this race I didn’t even see him coming around the rail, but wow..what a race..what a jockey..and most definatley what a horse!!
Oops sorry..I was told incorrectly…Zenyattas daddy is Street Cry.
(the way Street Sense ran that race from last to first was so like Zenyatta it was easy to believe:)
OMG from 19th to first in the last streach i really wish i could get my hands on a horse like that to ride! he must have been struggling to hold him back the whole race just so he could put on that show! man i wish i was that good of a jockey! to be around horses that great! but i dont think i could take the heart ache like when they had to put down eight bells i almost cried had i been riding her i wouldnt have been able to ride again i get too attached
STREET SENSE WAS ALL CLASS, BUT i AGREE- EXCELLENT MOVE BY BOREL!!! After seeing Borel pull off the same move with an even lesser horse in MINE THAT BIRD, i think a tiny bit less of Street Sense and even more of KING KAJUN HIMSELF - BORAIL
@squirttle92 Your profile says you’re from Austrailia so, allow me to explain that here in America, the primary racing surface for thoroughbred racehorses is dirt. Our horses also race on grass and synthetic surfaces but, the main surface is dirt. What do they race on in your country?
@shooter297 yeh i’m Aussie thanks for looking it up. As for us Aussies, we mainly race on grass, and we have several synthetic surfaces in the bigger cities. However, some smaller “bush” racecourses are so dry that the surface can hardly be considered grass. Thank-you so much for replying and not paying me out for my ignorance XD xoxoxo
@shooter297 AUSTRALIAN turf tracks race firmer than dirt tracks in the USA. Turf advantage those thoroughbreds that possess good acceleration unlike dirt tracks that suit tough horses with plenty of stamina.
Races in Australia are more tactical and slowly run until jockeys start to make their run approaching the home turn. Horses explode along the home straight (380m to 450m) and average 35sec for the last 3f in a 10f event. Some champions like LONHRO could run the last 600m under 33sec .
In light of what I saw on May 1st, 2010, I had to watch this again. I was left speechless that day (2007) but I was grinning this year…another grand run. I thought it was a one-of-a-kind run in 2007…I was wrong. 2009, Mine That Bird. Same kind of run, same jockey. And then the same damn amazing ride the following year and a win. Calvin Borel has Street Sense ;P on the track….

I betted on Street Sense to come into place. back in 2007. I should have stuck with my gut and bet $20 to win.

Just the beginning of a great Derby run for Calvin Borel. I hope he wins the 2010 Triple Crown on Super Saver.

Calvin “Bo-Rail” Borel, ladies and gentlemen, your three-time Derby champion.
“And Street Sense has run from NINETEENTH POSITION to FIRST in the Derby…”
God. I will never forget that call.
