Barbaro was better than any of those, if your only counting the Derby,

No I was talkin about the derby, the preakness, and the belmont stakes. All 3 of the horses made a run for the triple crown.

Oh ok, I agree with the first 2 but I wasn’t a real fan of War Emblem’s ability, but to each his own.

best 3 year olds in past few years:
Big Brown > Smarty Jones > Curlin > Afleet Alex > Barbaro > Bernardini.

the horse who had the best resume was probably curlin of the 3, but i dont think he was the best.

Big Brown was good, but then again, Barbaro ran like he did without drugs. Just an opinion though-

Big Brown was defintately a better horse. Faster Florida Derby by far, faster Kentucky Derby if you account for ground lost and post position, no contest.

i think Barbaro was the better horse…
March 7th, 2010 at 9:13 pm
actually, including Eight Belles, there have been four other serious injuries during the 134 years that the Kentucky Derbys been running

RIP Big Truck…we will never forget you…Big Truck, always loved and forever missed…Big Truck, one of the horses who ran in the 2008
Kentucky Derby, went to the track for a breeze on March 6th 2010…he broke down during the breeze and had to be humanely euthanized on the track

R.I.P Eight Belles

@FanOBarbaro , let’s just say, I would’ve definitely loved to have seen them race. Both had explosive speed. And, IMO, if both raced like Barbaro and Big Brown did in their respective Derbies, and Big Brown ran like he also ran the Preakness, I think both Big Brown and Barbaro both would’ve beaten Curlin on dirt. My reasoning on that is that I think both Barbaro and Big Brown were faster colt’s than Street Sense. And Street Sense was able to beat Curlin. TJMO.

I agree…although i do admit I never thought much of Curlin til I saw him win the preakness

big brown is the best horse
April 24th, 2010 at 2:44 pm
@av393 No, Big Brown was not the best horse, he was the most doped-up horse. Once they took him off the juice, he was exposed for what he truly was: A glorified allowance runner. This horse should have never been running in the Kentucky Derby, and certainly should have never been anywhere close to becoming a Triple Crown winner. If this horse had been allowed to sweep the Triple Crown, it would have been the blackest eye ever on the great sport of Horse Racing.

Big brown was my first kentucky derby winner since i started betting on horses in 1995. Had $10 to win on him and had five other horses for place and one of them wasn’t eight belles who knew! That larry jones should have never had her in the race to begin with!

@shooter297 I would like you to explain to me how Big Brown was exposed? When was he taken off “the juice” and when was he exposed? His loss in The Belmont could be attributed to many factors, including the loose hoof…exhaustion maybe? If he was exposed please explain to me how it is that he came back “off the juice” and won The Haskell and then The Monmouth Stakes on Turf???

@mrr1980 The Belmont was the first race where he was “drug-free” and he ran dead last. And, if you can look at his races in the Haskell and the Monmouth Stakes and think that that was the same horse that ran in the Derby and Preakness then, you need your head examined. All I’m saying is that when he was taken off the juice, he was shown to just be an average horse instead of the superhorse that he appeared to be during the Triple Crown.

@jnevblcubs
Look at Charismatic’s Derby and Preakness wins from 1999. You can hear it there.
