Are the Atlanta Braves fans the worst of all?

October 31st, 2010 | admin | How To Win At Sports Betting

I don’t live in the US so I don’t know the situation but I found Braves home games packed with RedSox, Yankees, Cubs fans are absurd.

Do they do the same to every other teams or Braves fans just not supporting the team enough?

Even then, I thought Braves has just as rich history as all those popular teams. It is just weird to see there are not enough fans to fill up the stadium. This happens even in the divisional series when Braves were on the winning streak.

Plus, Braves fans are even more hostile to each other than toward others. That does not make sense.

The Atlanta Braves are America’s Team when it comes to baseball. Right now they have three things going against them.

    1) After winning 13 division titles in a row the Braves have been on decline the last few years. Last time I checked Boston, NY, and Chicago had winning records and Atlanta doesn’t.

    2) The Braves were owned by Atlanta favorite Ted Turner, but is now owned by Time Warner and they are not as aggressive.

    3) Braves fans come from all over- North Carolina, South Carolina, and Alabama. Tickets are expensive, the economy is slumping and so it’s not as easy to see a game.

That being said, the Atlanta Braves are without a doubt one of baseball’s finest venues. All you have to do is go to a Braves game to find out why, it’s not only the game but the total experience.

    Go Braves!

I’m not too sure how many Red Sox and Yankee fans go to their games since they are in a different league. I definately have noticed that their home games do attract alot of the fans from the opposing team. I think its because everyone secretly wants to do the tomahawk chop in public and what a better place to do it in? :)

The worst fans in regards to knowledge of the game and rudeness are:
New York Yankee’s (They like to say they are good fans, but look at what has happened in the decades they have been bad, no one shows up)
    Chicago Cubs Rude and ignorant
Philadelphia- Players hate playing here, fans are rude.
Houston- Easily the dumbest baseball fans of any team in baseball.

The fans in Atlanta aren’t actually that bad. The reason you see a lot of Red Sox and Yankees fans in the stands is because there are Red Sox and Yankees fans everywhere. I lived in Ft. Worth and went to a lot of Rangers games. Whenever they played a big market team like the Yankees the stands would almost be split evenly.

The Braves do have a very rich history and the Atlanta area is full of baseball talent (East Cobb), but the economy is hitting a lot of people hard and tickets are super expensive. It’s really hard for a family to afford going to game if you include parking fees, tickets, and concessions. A lot of stadiums have trouble filling seats so some are coming up with creative marketing plans like all-you-can-eat tickets to increase ticket sales.

I live in L.A. now, and in my opinion Dodger fans are the worst. They’re dirty, violent, and they yell obscenities constantly. They are passionate about their team when they’re winning, but a majority of them would bail if they were losing. They also fight a lot in the stands and in the parking lot. Not all Dodger fans are bad, but as a whole they are the worst baseball fans.

Phillies fans aren’t too much better though…cheer when players get hurt, etc.

I don’t think they are among the worst. I’ve had the most trouble with fans of New York teams. Of course people on here claim Phillies fans are bad, probably without having actually experienced a game in Philly. They don’t have proof but go by what they have "heard". Its no worse than any other team.

Plainly put…I don’t see Atlanta as a good baseball city.

It is very difficult to answer this question. Every team has its share of die-hard fans and it’s share of fair weather fans. Every team has knowedgable fans an "idiots" that follow the team.

In my opinoin, the "worst fans" belong to Philadelphia. But this is an opinion, based on one specific instance. I believe it was when Larry Bowa was managing the team. On fan appreciation day, after leaving the ballpark, he got to his car and noticed… all four of his tires had been slashed.

Of course, there is no way to be sure if it was a fan or not that did this, but for some reason, hostility in Philly just sort of turned me off to their fans. I’m probably looking into this too deeply, or coming to a misinformed conclusion, but that one story really sunk in with me.

But who knows, maybe that happens in all najor league cities, it probably does.

Which means, all teams have (percentage wise) equally good and equally bad fans.
