August 23rd, 2010 | admin | Sports Betting System

I’ve seen people mention Steelers -6.5% What does that mean? I’ve put a bet on for the Steelers to win outright with it being tied at half time, I bet on soccer usually, so can someone explain how American football is usually bet as. Thanks!

  1. GaryE Says:

it is not -6.5% it is -6.5 points

That means that when you bet on the game you are taking the Steelers to win by 7 or more points. If the Steelers win by less than 7 you loose the bet.

So if the final score was Steelers 17 Cardinals 10

the score for you would be Steelers 10.5 Cardinals 10.

You take the final score and subtract the - points or add the + points.

It’s how many points one team spots another .

^ However as you can’t have a half point in football, the .5 is there so there can’t be a tie known as a no-action or push in betting.
