Is it possible to get rich off betting on football games in England and around Europe?

August 31st, 2010 | admin | Sports Betting System

It seems like a plausible idea but i’ve lost a substantial amount of money on betting. When i first discovered online betting about a year ago I thought this is it, I’m gonna be rich! But now it seems like its all designed for you to keep losing your money because thats all i’ve done! I know its possible to make some money occasionally through betting, but can you actually become rich through betting?

You’ve basically answered your own question in your first sentence! You said, "I’ve lost a substantial amount of money on betting." What makes you think this is going to change???

    I’ll make it simple:

If you gamble on sports, you WILL lose! The bookie is always the one to win the money. He’s the ONLY one that wins in the long run.

There are a VERY, VERY small percentage of people that can make a profit in the long run. These folks spend hours and hours studying teams and players all week long. When it comes down to it, they only make a small number of bets each week on what they determine to be high-percentage picks. Even then they still lose a lot of games. There’s no such thing as a "sure thing". They also often have "inside information" with which they use to determine a better bet.

Do you really think you fit into that extremely small percentage of people that knows things that nobody else knows?!?!?

You don’t. If you continue this, you will someday wish you didn’t.

When you bet on sports, you are betting against other bettors, not against the sportsbook. Whoever books your bet takes a percentage (the scrape) for themselves, and then splits the rest of the money up among the winners. The only way to win money is to be better at choosing winning teams than the other bettors are. And few people seem to have been consistently able to do that.

There is some promise in trying to identify games in which the bettors are betting because they are fans of the team, rather than to simply try to make money. For example, Penn State has hundreds of thousands of fans. If they are playing against a smaller (but equally skilled or better) college team, it is possible that the odds will be skewed by bettors who are primarily Penn State fans rather than serious gamblers.

But I wouldn’t hold your breath. People have been searching for systems for years, and I’ve never heard of anyone actually making a full-time living by betting on sporting events.

Its possible, but you have to look for value bets, meaning that you find games where the odds are wrong in your favor. This is hard to do. Its not easy as there is no mathemthical formula, it depends on your thinking.

You might have more success by using a betting exchange like Betfair. The advantage this gives you is that you can bet on football in-play and trade on your original bet to guarantee yourself a profit.

So for example, if you’d backed Liverpool before the match yesterday, when they score their price to win the match would have drastically reduced. You could then have placed a lay bet at this price (for Liverpool not to win), in order to protect your stake or even to guarantee yourself a win, whatever the score.

Best place I have found is Sports Bookie Live, I don’t know if you can get rich however you can bet absolutely anything and I would recommend choosing something you are very familiar with. Good luck
