   Mine That Bird came up on the inside and the caller never noticed until he was in the lead. Poor call but good race.

   Awesome horse and a jockey that knew how to ride him to victory. What heart! Mine that bird puts the “I Can” into American racing.

   He’s not Canadian bred he just raced in Canada as a Juvenile….

   The old guy behind me in line at the OTB put $100 on Mine That Bird to win!. Shoulda seen the crumpled up $1s and $5s he was unfolding. He looked at me and said, “I always bet the long shots and have never won, but I got a tip this time.” We bet on Chocolate Candy.

   I LOVED AN AMERICAN HORSE WON.> NO RICH GUYS!! They ROLLED UP IN A TRUCK AND TRAILER FROM NEW MEXICO AND SMOKED EM>> ALL!!! THE POOR SAUDI’s I LOVED IT..!!!

    You’re so right! When I watch the reruns I wonder what the caller was thinking. Mine That Bird just took off and passed everybody. Very poor call, and the caller’s fixation on the favorites meant he missed the real drama. Viewers like me, who can’t remember all the numbers/names, were thinking “Who’s that horse coming up so fast?”

    oh my god!!! that horse is amazing!!!! he looks soooo sweet! thats like something out of a movie!!!!!! he was so far behind and then who knows how many feet he was ahead of everyone!!!! his eyes look like my horses eyes!!!!

    At about 1:35 he can be seen dead last and starting that great run along the rail.
    At 1:43 turning into the home stretch he is obscured in the crowd. At 1:46 he is a brown blur surging foward and taking the rail again. At 1:50 he has the lead. The rest is history.

    That was a terrible call. Who announced this? He forgot Mine That Bird’s name for crying out loud. What a shame.

    mtb would woop r a with borel or not in the belmont….. mtb would of caught her if the last race was a little longer the jockey messed up

    I will always love Mine That Bird and Calvin Borel. I always root for the underdog and fellow Southerners!!
