Most over rated team in college football going into the 08-09 season?
And don’t give me that "you can’t tell until they play" crap. We all know which teams are good and which shouldn’t be ranked. So if your going to say the ol you can’t tell line… don’t bother.
ATTENTION HEATHER M. OSU has NOT been undefeated the past two regular seasons…. Illinois anyone? OSU is way overrated!

Beside the obvious Ohio St, I think Clemson, Kansas, Notre Dame, outsidebreaker (douce bag above me) and Rutgers are overrated.

Ohio State is not overrated. As much as I don’t like them…if they win all their games or at least more than other teams and make it to the championship and lose…well, they earned the right. No matter how badly they got beat. Who is to say that Florida and LSU would not have killed USC or anyone else just as bad.
Holy Crap, I just stood up for Ohio State – I must be losing my mind.

USC, Clemson. the whole Big 12, and Notre Dame. Ohio State will not be overrated. They will be good and I cannot stand OSU. I also have to add Auburn because I just noticed they are #7 on Rivals preseason poll. They are not that good.

Ohio State – We all know they are a good team, best in the Big 10 at that, however they have proven in the past two seasons that they sometimes dont play as good as advertised ie. 2007 vs Florida. They play USC earlier in the season this year so hopefully it will clear up any questions of whether or not they deserve the hype.
Oklahoma – I think Oklahoma is a great great team… on paper. The offensive line they have is full of future NFLers but I dont buy them as true contenders yet. For some reason Bob Stoops hasnt been able to win a BCS game since they got thumped on by USC in the NC a handful of years back.
LSU – Rivals had them as their #10 but I dont buy that for a second. I seriously doubt thier ability to live up to that with a new QB, with the SEC schedule and all the great defenses. If they get some average QB play they will be good. Just a side note — Ricky Jean-Francois is an absolute monster.
South Florida – They are an average team out performing an even more average conference.

I’d have to guess Georgia…all it takes is a couple losses on their tough conference schedule and the season would be a disappointment.
I personally hope that doesn’t happen. But I find it fairly likely.

I’m not going to be so quick to say that Georgia is overrated, as a previous answerer did. They do have a brutal schedule, and should they lose one of their tougher games I wouldn’t suddenly label them overrated.
Now this is a shocker. I’m a major hater with this team I am about to mention. I just spent 15 minutes doing yoga to prepare to type this. Ohio….State…..is…..not….overrated this year. They return so many starters that they have to be solid. NEvertheless…the Big 10 is a watered down mess and USC will gut OHio State, so it doesn’t much matter. Know what? Screw it. Ohio State IS Overrated. That felt good…
My last potential overrated teams..Kansas and South Florida. I think their sudden successes last year may lead to let downs this year. Just a thought.

South Florida, any team from the (big) ten, and any team that ends up rated ahead of a team they lost to twice in 1 season.

OSU isn’t overrated, for the past two years in the regular season we have been undefeated and I know Tressel will keep that up, now we just have to work on our bowl games and we will show all the naysayers. Go Bucks.
