My boyfriend said that pro football cheerleaders don't get paid, that they do it voluntarily. Is this true?

I can’t imagine that they spend half a year workin as hard as they do to NOT get paid. Granted, it’s only 8 games a year that they have to work, but they are workin out, and workin on their routines much of the week, I’ll bet.

Not true, they do get paid but many do it so that they can enter modeling and careers like that where the money is much better. Some are professional women with excellent careers and do it for recreation. I’ve know two Eagles cheerleaders over the years.

    yeah its true

They get paid, but it’s some crazy number like $39 a game. Being a pro football cheerleader opens up lots of other doors for them though.

That is a crock of crap. They get paid. Not as much as pro football players but they are paid. They get paid for the training, they get money from the calendar shoots they model for, and they get paid for the games. They are paid a salary with the exception of the model shoots. Female football players don’t get paid though which doesn’t seem fair to me because they are a professional female football league with no pay and you have to pay $20.00 to sign up. Tell your boyfriend to stick with the football stats and to leave the cheerleaders out of it.

heck no its not true! I wanted to do that. They spend all their time practicing and working out and competing and traveling with the team that they do. Its not a whole lot though. Just depends on how good the team they cheer for is.

  6. Chadness Says:

Of course this is not true. It is true that in some organizations, the cheerleaders are not paid by the franchise, but by some third party (like an advertiser or some company with an investment in the franchise).

  7. a Help'in hand Says:

Yup Yup, they get paid of course

  8. hygh2 Says:

Yeah they get paid, but most just use cheerleading as a stepping stone to something else, like Kristen Holt who went from Cowboys Cheerleader to American Idol to G4’s Cheat!. (There seems to be alot of cheerleaders in the Marketing Business?)

  9. DUDE Says:

they get paid but not a whole lot i think i make more than them.

  10. tc_081762 Says:

  11. mycrazylife Says:

  12. jimclrk20003 Says:

    the same as a ref

  13. Jared R Says:

they don’t get paid a lot but they get paid…it’s more of an opening up for the rest of their career…get their names out there…..remember paula abdul was a cheerleader for the cowboys….

also the photoshoots and training gets them paid as well as the games….

so they do get paid just not a lot….

  14. ea=me Says:

yeah right! of course they get paid. why else would they get up their and shake their butt ( and everything else) in front of america? your boy friend just doesn’t want you to be one. he wants you all to himself! lol

  15. Nick K Says:
