Yes i think that was 1976 when chris chambliss hit the game winning homerun versus george brett and the mighty royals to put the yankees in the world series.
It was Game 5 of the ’76 ALCS (back then the series was a best of 5). Chambliss hit a walkoff homerun. Because of the fans rushing the field, Chambliss couldn’t touch homeplate and only after the field was cleared went back with the umpires to touch the plate.
