ruffian also non human as you know and she was 53rd on the top 100 athletes of the 20th century!
check the information before you say that secretariat was the only NON HUMAN on the list!
even if it was a different list, he was not the only horse to be on a human list
ruffian was every bit as good as secretariat, they even say she was better then him, the only record of secreatiats that she didnt smash was his 1 1/2 M

@xxcrystlecityxx You are the one who needs to check the facts. The list YOU are referring to was Sports Illustrated’s list of the top 100 FEMALE athletes. Due to obvious reasons, Secretariat was not eligible for that list. The other lists by The Associated Press and ESPN were open to BOTH genders and Secretariat made both lists and Ruffian made neither… your comment, “they even say she was better than him”. Who are they? Very few would agree with that statement, and I am a big fan of Ruffian.

At 8 furlongs: Ruffian = 1:34 2/5 Secretariat = 1:33 2/5
At 9 furlongs: Ruffian = 1:47 4/5 Secretariat = 1 45 2/5
At 10 furlongs: Ruffian = ?????? Secretariat = 1:59 2/5
At 12 furlongs: Ruffian = 2:27 4/5 Secretariat = 2:24
She may have been able to challenge him at 6 furlongs, but as great as she was, she did nothing to prove that she was better than Secretariat

@tenbyssimo she beat all his 6 and 7 furlong times, and the time for her mile is uncertain because of some sites it says, 1:33.40 and other say 1:34.40, she beat 2 of his mile runs, or one if depending on which time is true, she beat 2 of his 1 1/8 miles, and she never raced at 10 furlongs because she broke down! she is every bit as god as secretariat!

@cmf43210 no other horse has carried anywhere near the weigth pharlap did and actually be able to finish without breaking down!
he was winning every race he entered after he got into it, and the bookies and racing asosiation decided to put im possible weights on him, but still he raced and one, the most amount carried ever by any horse is 10.10 stones and that was phar lap!

@xxcrystlecityxx Ruffian was the best philly of all time. Secretariat still owns the KD record, tied for the Preakness, still owns the Belmont record, the Marlboro Cup record and still owns the Man O War record. Ruffian was a great philly but better than Secretariat……NO.

Even though i question Secretariat’s win over 22 length which has never been done to date. At this time i believe there were no control on horses before and after races so who knows.

@xxcrystlecityxx Ruffian won the filly Triple Crown, now called the Triple Tiara. She is one of the greatest horses to ever step on a track. She had heart and speed, tragically more than the soft bone gene that had been passed to her could handle. It’s tragic that we didn’t get to see her become a grand old lady. Rest in peace Ruffian you still are the Queen of the Fillies. I’m through with this discussion.

I am not here to trash talk Ruffian, so Ruff fans don’t get all up in my face. Ruffian was a great filly, the greatest filly of all time, but IN MY OPINION she wasn’t as good as Sec. Almost, but not as good. But we will never know for certain…
